monday... yippee

well its monday... and today is our weigh in day.. for our weight loss challenge... its our 3rd round..
we took 1st and 2nd two times in a row... after today.. we have 2 more weeks in round 3.. then we start round 4 first week in jan. if we need to do another round... heather is really close to her personal goal... im still 30 lbs away.... yuck....
well anyhow... heather did a 20 mile loop this morning before work... and i did the same loop after work.... nice lil flat route around discovery bay....we both had nice aggressive rides.... today was our 3rd day in a row on the bike doing at least 20 miles each ride ... so tuesday will be a rest day...
i saw a cute poem on our team in training web site... i think i will steal it tomorrow and put it on the blog.... that will give me something to write since we are not riding...
i think i will take my long board out with my land paddle to the park with lacey lynn....after school
and clean the bikes and do some preventative maintenance. and maybe even sneak in a nap...
wednesday i think im going to do my 30 mile dam loop... there is some climbing in this loop.. so it will be good after a rest day.....

sunday ride

today me and heather went out for a 27 mile .... soft pedal flat ride... our whole ride only had 20 feet of climbing... we use ridewithgps.com to map out our routes and it tells us how many feet we will climb on route... sunday is the last day of the week in our ride journal...
heather rode 103 miles and 7 hours in the saddle
i rode 112 miles with 7 hours in the saddle....
this week coming will be challenging to get our base miles in because brooke has her junior olympics... sat. and sunday.... so we wont be be able to do any club or team weekend long rides....
but its early we are still over 11 weeks out so if we dont get alot of miles in this week it shouldnt hurt our progress......
we worked on our donation wall at loard's ice cream.... and did put together our letters to mail out...
we still have a long way to go on our fundraising... and we cant ride with out hitting our goal...
so i hope we can pull it off....

WINDY RIDE!

OH my! the roaring of the wind woke me up this morning... i thought the house was going to blow away... (not literally) BUT REALLY i woke up mike all in a panic... we cant ride in this blistering wind... check your phone see if they canceled! he said shut up and get dressed... we are riding...
we get down in livermore... GORGEOUS.... we (Tracy, John, Matt, Sally, Lisa, and Rich (lisas friend) Mike and I) all set off for a 20 mile ride... it was awesome... we went on some of the roads that the CINDERELLA ride and TOUR DE CALIFORNIA routes are on... THE WIND was AMAZING! LOL i went down a hill at 26 mph front wheel feeling like it was going to flip out from underneath me... then be haulted to 3 mph without me touching my brakes... all i kept thinking is THE WIND IS MY FRIEND THE WIND IS MY FRIEND! then i hear MIKE ... its only going to make you stronger and better your bike handling skills... ALL I COULD THINK WAS!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHUT UP! IM CONCENTRATING ON NOT FALLING OVER AND DYING! (love ya babe) thank you all for a great TEAM IN TRAINING BUDDY RIDE!

The story behind Our Team in Training adventure

It's crazy how things come together in your life....
1) We lost Pops to Lymphoma in Feb. of 2009, We both were thrown into being adults... Pops lived with us and was the man of the house.... He was our best friend... He was our partner.....
2) Me and Heather were crazy out of shape... I (Mike) felt like I was going to die. I'm 5'8" and weighed 332 lbs... I know crazy.... Heather weighed in at 230 lbs. but she still was hot...
3) We own Loard's ice Cream in Brentwood. We were catering an event in town and some weight loss challenge was announcing the winners from a contest. This sparked our attention ... and We joined the next Challenge.
4) Our store is in the same complex with Brentwood Bike Co.
5) Nicole our Herbalife rep. and weightloss challenge coach worked her magic on us and we lost 167 lbs toghether
6) We bought bikes from Brentwood Bike co. and started riding with their group rides. and started hearing members talking about century rides.
7) when I was listening to the radio I kept hearing commercials about this Team in Training .. and how they will train you to be an endurance athlete and be able to complete a century ride.
this got my attention. so we went to a meeting.....
8) during this meeting we learned that team in training raises money for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.... Omg it all came together for us Pops Lymphoma Bikes Century Ride
Sure I could train for a century ride on our own or with the club... but I can't even explain how passionate we are about this cause....We are riding for Pops... we try to keep things in balance with our training but it's hard... this seems like the most important thing we have ever done...
and our Family and friends are being so supportive ... we couldn't do it without their help....
we are spending so much time in the saddle.... putting in so many miles..... we don't only want to finish this century ride... but we want to finish it strong..... we want to make pops proud.....
9) we are making some great friends during this Team in Training Adventure... what a great goup of people.....

we are ordinary people trying to do something extraordinary for someone who just wants to be ordinary
